Why Towanda, Kansas for a church?

Why would we want to go into a small community like Towanda, Kansas to start a new church? To understand this we need to look no farther than H2O's vision of being a church which "Tranforms the culture of rural America." I was given a statistic recently that in the USA, roughly 7000 rural churches per year are closing their doors for the last time. This is a startling statistic that needs to be addressed and ...
Joy in Trials.....Really?

A verse in the Bible that has literally haunted me, is found in the book of James, chapter one, verse two: " Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds..." I have thought about this verse many times over the years, even quoted it to myself as motivation to get through difficult times, yet I still can't rap my fingers around it because it makes no logical sense. Pure joy...trials... is ...
Everybody Has a Part

With so many things to do as we begin moving our arm of the Church forward, we are often faced with the inevitable question: how do we accomplish everything? I believe the answer can be found in the book of Nehemiah. God had placed a burden on Nehemiah's heart to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the wall around the city which had mostly been reduced to rubble. The problem is, the Isrealites had ...
True Power is Found in Serving

I have been studying Israel’s history in the Old Testament and found some interesting stuff. I will begin in I Samuel 8:7. The people of Israel had been whining to the prophet Samuel that they wanted a king like all the other countries had. Funny how some things never change, like the grass is always greener on the other side. A dejected Samuel took this complaint to God. God told Samuel not to ...
Surrender Is Not In Our Creed!

Recently I was watching an older movie that is one of my favorites. It's called "Heartbreak Ridge" and stars Clint Eastwood. In this movie Eastwood stars as the close to retirement, grumpy old Gunnery Sergeant, Tom Highway. Highway has been placed in command of the Recon Platoon, a group of less than motivated enlisted men, who have up to this point had an easy life. Based on years of experience and trial under fire, ...
Do We Really Believe?

Pastor Craig has upped the bar in his messages and is really challenging us to be the people we were meant to be. A re-occuring point that he has been driving home over and over again is "do you really believe?" If we do then why are we not wholeheartedly living the lives were are suppose to live? In Luke chapter 19, is the story of the Rich Ruler. This man had the priviledge of talking ...
IS CHURCH FOR EVERBODY?

I have been to many churchs in my life; every size shape and color. Some carrying tradtions since the 1800's, some doing some new things. I have visited with many people about their church and even studied many of the denominational movements throughout history. My question is, why do so many people not feel welcome in the vast array of churches that are in existence in this country? I am not entirely sure ...
Its a New Year.....Again

Do you ever wonder why everyone places so much importance on the "New Year" every year, and how "New Year" resolutions are so important that they become topics of national news? Why is it that every "New Year" most people just seem to have to start over again and again and again and again? 2 Corinthians 5:17, says that "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, ...
Dream Stealers 12/1/09

A teacher has assigned her class the task of writing a story which describes the home they want to live in some day. One of the students was in a family that was in the horse racing buisness and so they moved from location to location throughout the course of a year to make a living, which also meant the young man moved from school to school quite frequently. The young man wrote ...
