Jennifer and I were on a ferry, six years ago, to Amsterdam riding the waves of the ocean in anticipation of our cultural adventure. Onto the passenger and car ferry drove the smallest car we had ever seen, we were mesmerized by the vehicle. The man got out of his “toy car,” and took his place on the passenger bridge. Quickly we took our opportunity to walk around the car, look inside, take our pictures with the vehicle and watch as the locals surveyed our “keen eyes.” We talked about the car, laughed about the car and were spellbound by its minuet size. When we arrived in Amsterdam, the small vehicles were everywhere. We were the true tourists intensely attracted by what the locals saw as the conventional. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I think the world is looking in the same way at those who are, “fully devoted followers of Christ.” They see the unfamiliar, the supernatural, the miraculous, often what we consider conventional, and they walk around it to examine it. They want to know if it is real. They want to know if it is true. They want to know if it is possible. It is our responsibility to show them the way, to draw them to the true and to help them find the supernatural in their own relationship with Christ. Actively seek out the ,”tourists,” , those apart from Christ, in your everyday walk. Engage them in your life and draw them to become, “fully devoted followers of Christ.”
