THROW UP YOUR "ROCK FIST?" ... NO, NOT IN CHURCH!?!

The first weekend of actually getting dirty and to work in the new home of H2O's Anthony Campus of LIFE180Church! So much was accomplished with the help of many hands who came to help out! Also had some great conversations with those in our group and with some who were just stopping in to see what was going on.
One conversation in particular was with a woman who wanted to know what "kind" of church we were...if we were one of "those churches who brought in loud disrespectful rock music." I told her that our mission was to reach the lost by any form neccessary short of sin. She told me that we should be respectful toward God in worship (kinda felt like a lecture from my Grandma). I knew this day would come and will probably come again many times over. Honestly, I was a little frustrated, but just told her that while our methods might be different, we shared a common goal... to win people to Christ!
Why are there differences like these? In our conversation, I shared that to reach the missing 20-30 somethings in our community, we may be called to step out of what is comfortable to us. There are no hymnal radio stations that I have programmed into my favorites on my car stereo...to me it just seems natural to make modern worship music that relates to this generation.
We talked a couple minutes longer, but I am sure she is not going to be throwing her "rock fist" up anytime soon!
In another conversation on Friday evening, I talked with a good friend named Merle (in his late 70's or early 80's) who was so excited to see a need being met! Man I love that guy! I pray that I am as passionate as Merle is about bringing Christ to the lost when I am his age! I pray for Kingdom Mindedness in our community and for all the churches here to reach as many souls for Christ as they can, anyway they can (short of sin)!

Truth never changes, but our culture certainly does. Anyway/ anything short of sin to reach people to become fully devoted followers of Christ...
Praise God for the provision of a new home for LIFE180 church! Can't wait to see what amazing things He has in store for Anthony, Harper County and beyond!
[ Posted by Shelli Starks,November 05, 2009 17:41 ] I am so excited to see you are starting a church in Anthony. My sister takes her kids to the one in Enid, OK. THEY ALL LOVE IT!!! She said, 'it is a little different, but it is ok. What I like about it most is my kids listen, and they pay attention and actually enjoy the sermons... that is what matters most. They have fun and are learning about God and what is right and wrong. I couldn't ask for anything more." I was considering driving all the way to Enid to church so my kids could experiance it also. Now I don't have to... YEAH!!! I can't wait!! Please keep me posted.

Getting connected with others as the Body of Christ is what church needs to be about! I would love to see you get plugged in with LIFE180! LifeGroup is meeting on Wednesday at our home in Attica if you care to come... we do have child care as well.
