TIMES TO REMEMBER
posted by brianahern at 16:12 ||
Well, today, I was so honored and humbled to be able to teach and spend about 30 minutes with some very awesome and dedicated people at H2Ochurch.tv! It was the first time I have taught a message "live" at the campus... well, actually, I realized earlier today that it was the first time I have ever taught a sermon at a church. That humbles me even more... Added to that, it was the first time that I have ever spoken to a group of people on a scaffold! That's right. I sat/stood on a scaffold during the teaching so that everyone could see and hear me in the seating area. It will be a time to remember for sure!
Today was BYOFB Sunday - Bring Your Own Fuzzy Blanket! We have had Arctic-like temperatures the past week or so here in Oklahoma and we still don't have our heating unit installed (coming soon!) so we thought it would be a great idea to come prepared. So, we asked people to bring their own blankets, gloves, hats, etc. Most of them did too! It was awesome. In the end, the room heated up very nicely to about 63 degrees... but it was the thought and preparation that counted.
When I looked down from the scaffold this morning, I realized how dedicated and "on board" these 20-25 people really are. Many of them have been with us from Day 1, and from our first experience in June when the temperatures were well over 100 degrees in the seating area! We have seen and felt the heat, and are now experiencing the cold of Oklahoma. BUT, I think these will be the times we will all remember someday.
We will be so excited to launch HeBrews and H2Ochurch.tv fully in the future, but I am still convinced that these are the "good old days" with regard to planting this church in Perry. I think we will look back someday and remember these times - freezing, sweating, jack hammering, teaching from a scaffold, light bulbs hanging down, walls that leaned, dust, no water, no bathroom... Early on, we said we wanted to enjoy this journey and not just the end product of opening HeBrews & H2Ochurch.tv. In this journey, there have been days that have been fun, exhausting, hot, cold, frustrating, exhiliarating, and about every emotion in between. But, it has been so cool to see God in the process, and to do our very best to be obedient to His calling and timing.
Thank all of you for your patient endurance and being right beside us in this process. Let's continue to enjoy the journey together...
